Start with 1. And 1 again. Now add them together: 1 + 1 = 2. Then add the last two: 1 + 2 = 3. Keep going. Each new number is the sum of the previous two.
If you draw squares with these sizes โ 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 โ and tuck them together, then draw a curve through themโฆ you get a beautiful spiral. This is called the Fibonacci spiral.
Once you know what to look for, Fibonacci numbers appear in places you'd never expect. Plants and animals "discovered" this math millions of years before humans did.
Plants don't know they're using Fibonacci numbers. They just grow this way because it's the most efficient way to pack seeds, leaves, and petals โ every leaf gets sunlight, every seed gets space.
Math isn't just something humans invented. It's a pattern hiding inside the universe โ and we get to discover it.
